Cloud City . . . a beautiful Tibanna gas mining colony set in the clouds of Bespin! While you're free to enjoy all the resort's pleasures, Lando does have rules to follow and the security team to back them up.

I started this piece as I do any other . . . I first do several small pencil roughs to get as many ideas out as I possibly can. Out of those, I pick the top 3 then narrow it down to just the best one. I next do up a quick full-size sketch on a sheet of letter sized printer paper. I then refine that sketch, darkening up lines and erasing others that are getting in the way from a clear sketch. After this, I check the drawing in a mirror for balance then transfer this to a clean sheet of 9x12' bristol board. I clean up the drawing more and add in details then move on to inking. I use Micron pens for the inks and any large black areas I'll switch to a brush and Pro Art India ink.

When the illustration has fully dried, I'll use a flatbed scanner and typically scan it in 2 parts then composite those together and adjust levels and sharpness. Using Photoshop, I'll color the artwork in multiple layers using digital coloring techniques learned from my comic book days as a colorist including color holds and undercoloring the blacks for a nice rich black on printing.
